5 Things to bring to your photography sesssion

So you’ve scheduled your photography session, you’ve got your location picked and your outfits sorted. But maybe your kids need a little extra oommppphh to get them excited! Here are some things that can help!

Snacks

“You’re not you when you’re hungry” and I tell you what, Hangry is a very real thing and photographing busy little ones isn’t made easier when they’re hungry. so make sure you have some (non-messy) snacks tucked away in your bag!

A change of clothes

This point has 2 parts, to start with, you should include the kids in the planning stages of the photography session and give them a say in what they will wear for the session. BUT if for whatever reason your child wants to wear their favourite Bluey tshirt (that does NOT match with the rest of the outfits you’ve picked), let them. I would rather a kid come to a shoot in a Bluey shirt, than coming to shoot red faced and worked up because you’ve just spent the last hour fighting them on said Bluey shirt. Bring the originally planned outfit with you and we’ll make it their idea to change! It’s also a good idea to bring a change of clothes in case of spills, accidents or trips into the mud!

Picnic blanket

Especially during the winter months, having somewhere dry to sit on the ground is always a plus! Normally I carry one in my car, but it’s always safe to bring your own, and this way you can coordinate your picnic blanket with your outfits!

Teddy or blanket

I always encourage bringing any soft toy friends, they’re often as much a member of the family as the dog! And if like my sister, your child still has their favourite teddy when they turn 30, it will be really nice to be able to look back on those early years.

A good attitude

A good attitude can make the world of difference, if you’re excited (not stressed) about the photoshoot this will rub off on your kids. If they think it’s going to be a boring drag, they’ll be more easily distracted and have a shorter tollerance and therefore we have a shorter window to get the images needed!
