Organize staff headshots for your business

Organising Staff headshots for your business can be a logistical nightmare, but it can really make a difference to your online presence and overall perception of you business as a whole.

Here are some helpful tips and things to consider when trying to organise staff headshots.

Setting the date

This can be the tricky bit, trying to coordinate schedules can be difficult, so planning in advance is important. It might help to coordinate the photography day with another event the employees are required attend such as a staff meeting or training day.

In the studio or on location

If you’d like to show a little more of your space then maybe on location in your offices it a great option, however if you’re after a plain light or dark background then the studio is your best bet

Briefing the team

It’s a good idea to give everyone being photographed at least 2 weeks notice in case they would like to organise a haircut before the photography, as well as a reminder the day before. Guidelines on what to wear will depend on the company image you’re wanting to portray, if you would like everyone wearing a company uniform, make sure they know that. If jackets/suits/ties are required make sure to outline this in the email.

Timing

Depending on how many staff you have will determine how long will be required for your photography session. As a rough guideline I like to allow 5-10 minutes per person, which will allow for a range of different images in different poses. Some people are more comfortable in front of the camera, and therefore don’t need as long, whereas some people are more self conscious and require a little longer to come out of their shells.

Budget

My normal headshot photography rate is $185 per person, individual headshots are limited to the studio, BUT if you have more than 3 staff members there are discounted rates and I can come to you!

This price includes a single image per person and additional files can be purchased at $35 each.

3 - 6 staff members $135 per person

7 - 10 staff members $115 per person

more than 10 staff members $100 per person

On-going Photography

Chances of getting the whole team together on the same day is often slim, there’s usually at least one person who can’t make it due to illness, client meetings or some other unforeseen circumstances, and chances are you’ll have new team members joining your business sometime in the future. So having a local photographer who can come back and photograph you again and again just makes sense.

Not to mention in this digital age the requirement for new imagery for social media is never ending. Scheduling a monthly or bi-monthly photography session to photograph any new team members as well as your offices or various other content for social media can be a really cost effective way of making sure you have an ever expanding gallery of images for social media.
