How to coordinate your outfits for your Family Portraits

Having your outfits coordinated between your family members is a really important part of ending up with really beautiful cohesive art work. Not only do you look like a team in your images with the whole family, but individual portraits will go well together in a collection if you’re clothing is matching.

Now when I say “matching” please don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting that you all wear the exact same outfit (everyone wearing matching blue jeans and white tshirts had it’s place back in the early 2000’s and that’s where it should stay). But by selecting a few complimentary colours and trying to weave at least one of them into everyones outfits will ensure you look coordinated!

My other tip is to lay out eveybody’s outfits together (BEFORE the day of your shoot!), this way you’ll get a visual idea of what each person is going to wear and how it fits with the rest of the group. You’ll immediately be able to see if there is something which clashes or doesn’t look right!
