The Barnett Family - Lifestyle Newborn Family Portraits at Home in Launceston, Tasmania

It’s been about 2.5 years since the last time I photographed Sam, Adam and their boys Lachlan and Connor, and I was SO Flipping excited when Sam told me she was pregnant and they were adding a little girl to their clan!

The one thing that always strikes me when I photograph families more than once, is how much the kids grow - it makes me feel super old! and I think family members and people you see regularly don’t really see the growth in the little ones. But I definitely see it. I spend so much time looking at the images on how they were back then that I forget they can even grow!

I have this one particular image which I took of a family friends daughter (if you want to get technical, it’s the granddaughter of a friend my Mum went to kindergarten with!!), they live interstate so we don’t see them often, but the image I took of her when she was 2.5 years old is one of my display prints in the studio, so I see that every day. I don’t even recognize her now that she’s 8! Photography captures these special moments in time, but it’s also really important to have regular updates to show how the members of your family grow and change.

I’m so honoured when families come back to me for updated portraits especially when they have new family members and Sam and Adam are no different. and their little girl Elanor is absolutely stunning.
