The Gillman Family - Newborn Session at Home

If you didn’t read the first part of the Gillman’s story you can see the images from Jamin’s Newborn shoot here

Esther was only seven days old when I photographed her at her home.
I prefer to photograph newborns at home, as I have a more relaxed casual approach to newborn photography.

I like to capture your relationship with this tiny new human, I don’t like photographing them wrapped up looking like every single other newborn I’ve ever photographed. I want to show your family, your connection, their siblings, your home.

I normally recommend photographing newborns as early as possible. I will often tell families (only half jokingly) to pick me up on their way home from the hospital for the newborn shoot. Babies grow and change SO quickly in that first few weeks of life and one of the main reasons for photographing newborns is to document just how tiny they are, how they fit in your hands and how tiny their fingers and toes are, so photographing them as early as possible is ideal for showing how tiny they are. (In saying that, I’m never turning you away because your newborns are “too old” for a newborn session!)

I ask all of my clients to come in for a pre-shoot consultation so we can get to know each other and can discuss what you’d like to achieve with your photography session. I recommend you come in before bub is born (especially if you want to schedule in a maternity session too!) usually around the 32-34 week mark of your pregnancy.

If you’d like to book in your own photography session, you can do so here
