The Griffin Family - Extended Family Portrait Session at Hobblers Bridge

Caitlin is a wonderful friend and past client of mine and we had originally planned to do this shoot back in November, that was before Sophia decided to take a pair of scissors to her beautiful long hair and we had to postpone for a few months. But boy it was worth the wait!

I thought I would split this blog post up into two, because we kinda had a mini extended family shoot before their family portraits. Caitlin wanted to do something to surprise her Mum for her birthday and so brought her folks plus her niece and nephews to the shoot so we could photograph the grandparents and grandchildren together!

Family portraits are really the perfect present for those hard to buy for family members and Caitlin ended up with a portfolio box for her mum.

All of these kiddos took a little while to warm up to me, Kai was especially shy, one of the reasons I like to photograph all of the children individually at the start of the session. It gives me a chance to have a chat to them and get to know them. I like to ask who their friends are at school and if they play sports and what their favourite toy is, anything to get them talking to me and forget about the camera.

Sometimes I need to resort to word games to make them relax, but it was worth the time when Caitlin’s Sister Dani said the photos of Kai are the best photos of him she’s EVER seen and she cried when she first saw them!

It was a little bit of chaos but to be honest that’s how I like to roll and we ended up with some really beautiful images of Caitlin’s whole family. And this was just the beginning! I took Caitlin, Andrew, Sophia, Avery and Nella for a wander and we completed their family portraits for this year!
