The Cassidy Family - Maternity Session at Hadspen River

I met Preena, Sam and Orla down at Hadspen river one Sunday morning back in September to take some family portraits to celebrate their last few weeks as a family of 3. Preena was around 32 weeks pregnant and while it was kind of the reason for the photography session, she didn’t want it to be the FOCUS of this photoshoot.

She really wanted to capture some family portraits and have the session be more about them as a family rather than her pregnancy.

I find that most families fall into 2 camps when it comes to maternity photography, either the “I want to document this miracle of life in the most glorious way possible” or “I just want to document our family before it changes”. Because of the more relaxed nature of how I photograph my subjects, I find that most people coming to me are sitting further in the wanting to photograph their family before it changes camp and don’t want extravagant maternity gowns for their photography and don’t even necessarily want to put their images up on display once they’ve recieved them - cause who wants images of themselves at their fattest up on their walls, plus there’s kind of a family member missing from your portraits!

Preena and Sam definitely fell into this camp and their family portraits focus on exactly that - Their family.
