Launceston Family Photoshoot Locations - The City Park

When talking about chosing a location for your family portrait session, I usually encourage my clients to choose a place that they go to regularly as a family and has special meaning to them. So it’s no surprise that the City Park is a favourite among locals especially for families who have grown up in Launceston and went to the City Park as children themselves!

The City Park has a bunch of beautiful spots to take photographs, and if your shoot is there, normally I’ll make my way around to a few of them!

The band rotunda is a great spot especially if it looks like rain! There’s enough shelter but you don’t have those “inside a greenhouse” vibes that come with the conservatory

The conservatory is always a great space if it is raining, but to be honest it’s not my favourite of locations within the park, I prefer to be outside sitting under any of the beautiful trees

A couple things to be wary of if choosing the City Park for your portrait session, firstly Saturday mornings are BUSY, the parking is quite difficult thanks to the Harvest Market.

The other thing to be wary of is the Train! I find it’s a really great incentive for the kids to behave, but it can be easy for them to be distracted by it!
