Mum Get in the Photo!

Hey Mama! When was the last time you were in a photo with your kids, not just behind the camera taking photos of them? I bet you take a heap of photos of your kids with their Dad right? but how often is he taking photos of you with the kids? and how often are you ALL in the photo?

How often do you use the excuse that you need to loose weight, or get your hair done? or you don’t like your smile? cause those are things I hear ALL THE TIME and I want to let you in on a little secret, Your kids don’t care! When they are old, and you are grey (or dead) they will cherish those images, they’ll be the images they show your grandchildren, and their grandchildren and no one is going to look at them and focus on how your teeth are a little crooked, or maybe you’re a couple of kilos heavier than you’d like to be. What they’ll see is the love and connection between themselves and their mother, you know, the human that MADE THEM.

Family portraits can take you back to a time and place that’s important in your family’s history, or even things that aren’t THAT important but still bring back fond memories for your family. Like that year Sophia had short hair because she took a pair of kitchen scissors to her beautiful long hair, or that time Brenton broke his hand playing football when he should really stick to coaching these days! It doesn’t HAVE to be a big occasion like the birth of a family member or a wedding to bring back memories, it could be cousins first Christmas together, or the first time the whole extended family were able to be together after months of the dreaded C-Word keeping everyone apart.

We take family photos every single year, normally it’s on Christmas Eve, and it’s amazing to see how our family has evolved over the years, it used to just be my parents, my sister and myself, but since myself and my sister have gotten married we’ve added husbands and dogs to the family, and maybe one day soon there will be babies to add to the mix too, and I treasure those images as we don’t often take photos with our parents anymore.

I’ve started offering a family portrait membership to my past clients so they can make sure they get family portraits taken every single year (and take the stress out of organising it every single year) so if you’re interested Get in touch
